Tyler Perry on being Successful
Achieving success in adversity through grit and hardwork is the story of Tyler Perry. Perry was born in Louisiana on 13 September 1969, and was named Emmitt Perry, Jr. In his childhood, Perry was physically abused by his father and to escape the beatings he had once tried to commit suicide. 16 year old Perry changed his name to Tyler to separate himself from his father. He dropped out of high school and took up various jobs to support himself.
In early 1990s, taking inspiration from an Oprah Winfrey show’s episode, Perry started writing about the hardships he had faced hoping to relieve the burden on his mind and soul. Based on these writings he made his first play, ‘I Know I’ve Been Changed.’ Read more on amillionlives.net
