  • *Empowerment Trainer/Consultant/Speaker
  • *Editor-in-Chief Inspiration Network

In daily life, Mara Michels is the CEO of Inspiration Network and empowerment trainer who does her work with lots of passion. Her mission on earth is to empower and inspire, and this is what she does trough her workshops, presentations, writings and her work as a editor-in-chief for InspirationNetwork.eu.

She studied Account-management (specialized in communication and PR) at a private college and Law at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She worked in restaurants, clubs, and bars but also worked as a secretary at different offices and as assistant for 2 projects at the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. As her own boss she started working as a PR agent but now only focused on working as a motivational speaker and trainer.

Being born and raised in Rotterdam (The Netherlands), from South American parents, makes her not only a Urban girl but also an expert on different cultures. She is a real power-lady and has a natural thing for coaching, as she knows precisely how to motivate others and herself. She loves working with groups, and using the dynamic and interaction to give individuals insights, knowledge and keys to open personal doors.

Born to be a Busy Bee

For over 20 years she has been a real busy bee. From the age of 10 she was a fanatic tournament tennis-player and from the age of 18 she was active as a tennis-trainer working with groups in the age 6 till 17. In her early twenties her path of finding herself started when she and some friends decided to build the organisation Uhuru (freedom). The mission of Uhuru was gaining and sharing knowledge about African history and self development. So they organised lectures, book nights, debates, performed as a poetry group and had a weekly radio programme called “Say it Loud I am Black and I am proud” . During this she got the opportunity to work as a volunteer in Amsterdam South- East for the organisation Untold (CCSJ) as an empowerment trainer and creative director for Caribbean Dutch youth during different international exchange projects. She did this for over 8 years.

In 2007 she was guided to the book “the Power of Now” by Eckart Tolle and that was the beginning of a new chapter on her path in search of herself. With she started by writing her favorite poem “The Possibility of Being”. With her new found knowledge she decided to organise dialogue evenings with two others and so she did. After two years she wanted to reach more people and in 2009 she started with InspirationFM: a weekend radio with different shows all about personal development. She loved it but she knew she could go bigger, so in 2010 she stopped with the radio and Inspiration Network, the online magazine for personal development, was born.
